WHAT TO EXPECT
Welcome! If you are feeling a bit anxious about your first counseling session, that is completely normal. Starting something new, especially something as personal as counseling, can bring up a lot of feelings. Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable and supported as possible.
From the moment you walk in, you will be in a safe, confidential environment where you can express yourself openly. Your counselor is here to listen without judgment and to support you.
FAQ...
Where do I go?
Our address is 11900 N. MacArthur, Suite E1. You can park anywhere in front. You will see our office on the north side, facing south. We have installed a code lock on the front door and will text you the door code when we schedule your session. All therapists will likely be in session, so when you enter just have a seat in the front lobby. You may help yourself to coffee and water if you would like. There is a restroom down the hallway. We will come get you when it is your appointment time. We also have the ability to do our sessions via Telehealth if you prefer. We use a HIPAA-protected platform that you can access via your phone, tablet or laptop.
What do I bring?
When scheduling your first session, we will email you intake paperwork so you can let us know a little about yourself and how we can help you, in addition to your insurance and contact information. You will also enter your credit card number to leave on file to bill for your copay or session fees. Because you will fill these out in advance, you won't need to bring anything with you.
What will we talk about?
During the first session, your counselor will ask some questions about your background, current situation, and what brought you to counseling. This helps them understand your unique needs and how they can best support you. You will discuss what you hope to achieve through counseling. Whether you are dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues or something else, your counselor will work with you to set realistic goals.
How often will we meet?
You may decide to schedule bi-weekly or even weekly sessions as your schedule allows. Remember, this is your space and your journey. We are here to support you every step of the way. If you have any concerns or need more information before your first session, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to meeting you and starting this journey together.
